• Caste-based reservation is available only to candidates domiciled in Bihar. Reserved-category candidates from outside Bihar are treated as Unreserved.

आयु सीमा

Age is reckoned as on 01.08.2026, for both the minimum and the maximum.

• Age is reckoned from the date of birth printed on the matriculation certificate or its equivalent.
• Serving Bihar government employees appearing for a higher pay-scale service get a further 5 years, under resolution 2374 of 16.07.2007.

शैक्षणिक योग्यता

• Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination, passed.
• Only Indian citizens may apply under this advertisement.

• Men must show a chest expansion of at least 5 cm.
• Women must weigh at least 48 kg.
• The physical measurement test carries no marks. It is pass or fail, and no relaxation of the minimum standards is allowed.

Negative marking: one mark for each correct answer, and 0.25 of a mark deducted for each wrong answer, in both papers.

• The written examination is OMR based and objective, at the standard of the Bihar School Examination Board class 10 (Matric) or equivalent.
• One mark is given for each correct answer and 0.25 of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer, in both papers.
• A candidate must score at least 30 per cent in each paper separately. Below that, they are declared unsuccessful.
• The OMR sheet is in two copies: one is retained by the Board and one is given to the candidate.
• Where the examination is held in more than one sitting, marks are normalised by the equi-percentile method.
• Both papers together are called the Main Written Examination, and the final merit list is prepared from those marks alone.
• Three times the number of vacancies in each reservation category are called for the physical measurement test. Everyone on the same cut-off mark within a category goes through.

1. Main Written Examination: two objective papers, and the only marks that count towards the final merit list.
2. Physical Measurement Test (PST): height, chest and weight. Qualifying only, no marks, no relaxation.
3. Document verification: usually on the same day as the physical test.
4. Final merit list, prepared category-wise from the Main Written Examination marks.

• A valid photo identity document: Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter identity card or similar.
• Date of birth proof: the original matriculation or equivalent certificate and marksheet.
• Intermediate or equivalent passing certificate.
• Intermediate or equivalent marksheet.
• SC and ST candidates: caste certificate from the competent authority, and a permanent residence certificate.
• BC and EBC candidates: caste certificate, permanent residence certificate, and a Non-Creamy Layer certificate. If the Non-Creamy Layer certificate is more than a year old, a declaration on Form xviiiB must be attached as well.
• EWS candidates: an income and asset certificate for financial year 2024-25 on Schedule-I (Form-I), and a permanent residence certificate.
• Freedom fighter dependants: a certificate signed by the District Magistrate or an authorised officer showing the candidate is a grandchild of a pensioned freedom fighter. A successor's identity card is not accepted.
• A married woman claiming reservation must have her caste and Non-Creamy Layer certificates issued in her father's name and address, not her husband's.

आरक्षण नियम

• Women domiciled in Bihar, reserved and unreserved alike, receive 35 per cent horizontal reservation, under General Administration Department resolution 12575 of 9 July 2025. Women may also be appointed on merit over and above that 35 per cent.
• Grandchildren of freedom fighters who draw a central government pension receive 2 per cent horizontal reservation, on the prescribed form.
• Reservation is given only where it is claimed in the application form itself.
• Reservation on the basis of caste is available only to candidates domiciled in Bihar, and the permanent address given in the application is what counts.
