IBPS has invited online applications for 11,403 Customer Service Associate (Clerk) posts in participating public sector banks across India. Graduates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh can apply for vacancies in their home state. The online registration window closes on 21 August 2026 at 11:59 PM.
What this recruitment is about
IBPS Clerk is the largest banking recruitment of the year, and for candidates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh it is one of the few genuinely large-volume opportunities with 11,403 posts on offer.
The official designation is Customer Service Associate. In practice this is the person at the branch counter, handling cash, passbooks, account opening, and answering the queue. It is a public-facing job, and posting is usually within the state you apply for.
Why the state you choose matters more than anything else
IBPS Clerk vacancies are filled state by state, and the cut-off differs sharply between states. You may apply for only one state, and you will be posted in that state.
This single choice decides your chances more than your preparation does. A candidate from Bihar applying in a state with fewer applicants may clear at a lower score than someone scoring higher in a crowded state. Look at the vacancy count for your state and the previous year cut-off before you decide, and remember that the language requirement means you should be comfortable in the local language of the state you pick.
Who can apply
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university
- Computer literacy: operating and working knowledge is required
- Age between 20 and 28 years, with relaxation as per rules
- Proficiency in the official language of the state you apply for
Selection process
Selection has two stages: a Preliminary examination and a Main examination. Unlike IBPS PO, there is no interview for the clerical cadre. Your final selection is decided entirely by your Main exam score.
The Preliminary is qualifying in nature. That means the marks you score there do not carry into the final merit list; they only decide whether you sit the Main. Many candidates plan their preparation backwards because of this and spend too long on Prelims-level practice.
How to apply
- Go to ibps.in and open the CRP Clerical registration link
- Register with a working email and mobile number: all future communication goes there
- Select your state carefully; it cannot be changed later
- Upload photograph, signature, thumb impression and a handwritten declaration in the specified formats
- Pay the fee online and download the completed application
- Complete everything before 21 August 2026, 11:59 PM
Common mistakes candidates make
- Choosing a state emotionally rather than by vacancy count and cut-off
- A handwritten declaration that is typed, or in the wrong language, a frequent rejection reason
- A thumb impression that is smudged or in the wrong size
- Using an email or phone number you will lose access to before the exam
