Take the test
Type the passage exactly as it appears. The clock starts on your first keystroke and the score updates as you go.
Is this the same as the real exam?
No, and that is worth saying plainly. Departmental tests run fixed keyboard layouts (Remington GAIL, Inscript, Mangal, Kruti Dev) inside their own software. No web page can emulate the layout your fingers will meet on exam day. This is practice for speed and accuracy, not a simulation of the exam.
How are words per minute counted?
One word is counted as five characters, which is the convention recruitment boards use, so a score here is comparable with the 25 or 35 wpm a notification asks for. Gross speed counts every character you typed; net speed counts only the ones that matched the passage.
Which number is the real one, gross or net?
Net. Departments test accuracy alongside speed, and a fast typist who gets a third of it wrong fails. That is why net is the figure shown largest.
How do I type in Hindi?
Switch on the Hindi keyboard on your phone or computer and type as you normally would. The tool measures whatever reaches the text box, by whatever method you use. Do remember that the exam fixes the layout, so it is better to practise on the layout you will actually sit.
Is my score saved anywhere?
No. Everything runs on this page. There is no account, no server, and no score is sent anywhere. Close the page and it is gone.
