What is the "as on" date?
Every notification fixes one date on which your age is counted, "as on 01 July 2026", for instance. It can sit months away from the last date to apply, and for anyone near the boundary that gap is what decides eligible from not. This is why the tool asks for that date and not for the closing date.
Does it add age relaxation?
No. It uses only the limits the notification itself prints. Where a notification gives category-wise ages you get a category to pick; where it only says "relaxation as per rules", no number is invented. Stating a relaxation wrongly is the same class of error as stating a last date wrongly.
How is the date-of-birth window worked out?
You must have attained the minimum age and must not have attained the maximum. So the window runs up to the "as on" date minus the minimum age, and starts a day after the "as on" date minus the maximum. UPPSC A-3/E-1/2026 prints its own window, "born between 02-07-1986 and 01-07-2005", and this calculation reproduces both of those dates exactly.
