Screening test pattern, from the syllabus issued by the Principal Controller of Examinations, APSC, dated 17 July 2026:
Paper I: General Studies. Multiple choice, 100 marks, 2 hours, 100 objective questions. Topics: the Constitution and political system of India; current events of national and international importance; the Indian economy and planning process; geography of India, Assam and the world; the role of science and technology in India; culture and history of Assam, India and the world; the Indian national movement with special reference to Assam.
Paper II: Geology. Multiple choice, 100 marks, 2 hours. The paper is divided into eleven groups covering structural geology and seismology, mineralogy and thermodynamics, geoinformatics and Quaternary geology, hydrogeology, igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochemistry and engineering geology, economic geology, sedimentology and surveying, stratigraphy and geodynamics, palaeontology and fuel geology, and fluvial and environmental geology.
